Phagwara: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to voters to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) once again in the 2027 Assembly elections, saying the government is committed to continuing its development agenda across the state.

Addressing a public gathering at Gandhi Chowk in Phagwara, Mann highlighted his government’s achievements and launched sharp attacks on opposition parties. He claimed that the Shiromani Akali Dal had lost public support and alleged that voters would reject the party in the next elections. He also criticised the Congress, saying the party was struggling politically and had weakened significantly in Punjab.

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mann accused it of misusing central agencies for political purposes and said people would not support such politics.

The Chief Minister said significant progress had been made in strengthening Punjab’s canal irrigation network. According to him, canal water coverage had increased substantially during the current government’s tenure and further expansion was expected in the coming days.

Commenting on reports of possible political alignments among opposition parties, Mann said rival parties would fail to challenge the AAP government effectively.

During the event, Member of Parliament and constituency in-charge Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal welcomed the Chief Minister and raised the demand for granting district status to Phagwara. Mann said the government was exploring ways to improve administrative services in the region and indicated that additional powers could be delegated to local authorities in the future.

The Chief Minister also announced several development projects for the city, including road infrastructure works worth around ₹18 crore. Additional funds were announced for special civic works and village development initiatives.

The event also witnessed the induction of several local leaders into the Aam Aadmi Party, including former BJP-linked councillor Anurag Mankhand and village sarpanch Kulwant Kaur, as the party continued its organisational outreach ahead of future elections.
