Chandigarh: A court in Patiala has rejected the bail plea of Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra in a rape case, directing that he remain in custody.
The legislator was produced before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Navdeep Kaur Gill, which dismissed his application on Tuesday. He is now expected to approach the High Court for relief.
A case has been registered against the AAP MLA at Civil Lines police station in Patiala on charges of rape and issuing death threats. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for May 2.
Meanwhile, police have also formally arrested Pathanmajra in a separate case registered under the mining law at Julkan police station last year. Gurbans Bains confirmed the arrest, adding that remand in this case will be sought later.
