Bathinda Police arrest two accused in petrol bomb attack on doctor’s clinic

Bathinda: Bathinda Police on Thursday claimed to have solved the petrol bomb attack on the clinic of Dr Tarsem Garg on Mela Ram Road by arresting two accused, while a third suspect is still absconding.

Addressing a press conference, DIG Harjeet Singh said the investigation was carried out using CCTV footage and other technical evidence. During the probe, police found that the two accused had reached the crime scene in an auto-rickshaw.

They allegedly conducted a recce of the area during the day before hurling a petrol bomb at the clinic late at night and fleeing the spot. After the attack, they reportedly travelled to Abohar by train.

Police tracked down and arrested both accused from Abohar after conducting an extensive investigation. The DIG said the duo attempted to escape from police custody while being brought back to Bathinda. During the escape attempt, both sustained injuries—one suffered a fractured leg while the other fractured his arm. They are currently undergoing medical treatment.

According to the investigation, the accused allegedly carried out the attack in exchange for money. Police identified the alleged mastermind as Sandeep, a resident of Abohar, who remains absconding. Raids are being conducted to trace and arrest him.

Police officials said neither of the two arrested accused had any previous criminal record. The investigation is continuing, and police expect further disclosures in the case.
