ED team remains inside Nitin Goyal’s Kharar flat over 24 hours after raid

Chandigarh: More than 24 hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at Nitin Goyal’s flat in Kharar, the agency’s team continued to remain inside the apartment on Friday.

According to sources, Goyal’s children were escorted to school by an official on Thursday. ED officers have been taking short breaks in shifts since the raid began, while the housing society remains under the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Raids are also continuing at locations linked to Dhir Construction.

The ED on Thursday carried out search and seizure operations against two Punjab-based real estate groups in connection with an alleged fraud involving illegal changes in Change of Land Use (CLU) permissions and alleged cheating of landowners and homebuyers.

Dramatic scenes unfolded in Kharar during the operation after bundles of cash were allegedly thrown from a flat during the raid.

Sources in the ED headquarters in Delhi said the searches were conducted at Flat No. 906 in Western Towers, located at Chajju Majra. During the search operation, two bags allegedly containing bundles of cash were thrown out from inside the building.

ED sources further said raids were conducted at 12 locations across Mohali and Chandigarh, including premises linked to several builders, housing projects and Nitin Goyal, who is reportedly considered close to the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of a senior government official.
