Chandigarh: The visit of former Punjab MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu to the ashram of controversial preacher Rampal has drawn widespread attention amid increasing visits by politicians, officials and supporters to the spiritual leader after his release from jail.
A video shared on the official Facebook page, Spiritual Leader Saint Rampal Ji, shows Navjot Kaur Sidhu seeking blessings from Rampal at his ashram.
During a brief interaction, Sidhu reportedly told Rampal that meeting him had boosted her morale. She said she had earlier planned to meet him in jail but was glad that he had now been released.
Rampal is currently staying at his ashram in Dhanana in Sonipat after being released from Hisar Jail on April 10 following nearly 11 years in prison.
He had faced multiple criminal cases, including charges related to murder, attempt to murder and sedition.
In recent weeks, several political leaders and public figures have reportedly visited the ashram. These include Jai Prakash, Naresh Selwal, Randhir Panihar, former BJP MP Sunita Duggal and IPS officer Rajesh Duggal.
The increasing footfall of politicians, khap leaders, village sarpanches, athletes and government officials at the ashram has sparked fresh political and social discussions surrounding Rampal’s influence after his release.
