PM Modi urges cautious use of petrol and gas amid West Asia crisis

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that careful and restrained use of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel and gas has become essential in view of the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

Addressing a gathering after laying foundation stones and inaugurating development projects worth Rs 9,400 crore in Telangana, Modi said India should use imported petroleum products only when necessary.

He said reducing unnecessary consumption would not only help save foreign exchange reserves but also lessen the impact of global conflicts and wars on the country.

India expanding renewable and gas infrastructure

The Prime Minister said India has emerged among the world’s leading producers of solar power over the past few years.

He noted that while the government’s earlier focus was on ensuring LPG cylinder access to every household, the emphasis has now shifted towards expanding affordable piped gas supply networks.

Modi added that the government is also continuously promoting CNG-based systems as part of its broader energy strategy.

‘India managing global energy crisis effectively’

According to Modi, these combined efforts are helping India deal with the global energy crisis more effectively.

“But today, using petrol, diesel, gas and such products very carefully is also the need of the hour. We must use imported petroleum products only as per necessity. This will not only save foreign exchange but also reduce the adverse effects of war,” he said.

PM backs cooperative federalism

Referring to remarks made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy that development work should remain above politics, Modi said he too would avoid political discussion on the occasion.

Assuring Telangana of full support from the Centre, the Prime Minister invited the state government to work together for development.

He added that in a democracy, it is natural for different political parties to govern at the Centre and in states, and such diversity should not hinder development efforts.
