Manali: Police have launched an investigation after a video allegedly showing a foreign woman tourist being harassed in Himachal Pradesh’s Manali surfaced on social media and went viral.
According to preliminary information, the incident is believed to have occurred on June 3 in the Manali area of Kullu district. The footage, reportedly captured on a CCTV camera, shows a young man allegedly behaving inappropriately towards a foreign woman walking along a road.
Authorities have not yet officially verified the exact location shown in the video. No formal complaint has been filed in connection with the incident so far.

Manali Deputy Superintendent of Police K.D. Sharma said the local station house officer has been instructed to identify the individual seen in the video and take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns among residents and members of the tourism industry, who fear such cases could affect the sense of safety among solo women travellers and international visitors.
Tourism stakeholders said maintaining a secure environment for visitors is essential for preserving the region’s reputation as a popular travel destination.
