Ayodhya: Police have registered a case against eight people in connection with alleged irregularities involving cash donations and offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The action follows a preliminary inquiry conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
According to officials, the SIT examined CCTV footage from the temple premises as part of its initial investigation. During the review, the activities of several individuals were found to be suspicious, prompting police to register an FIR against eight people seen in the footage.
The matter came to light after questions were raised over the handling of cash donations and other valuable offerings made by devotees at the temple. Following the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted an SIT to investigate the matter.
Sources said the probe covered multiple aspects, including the security of donation boxes, the counting of cash and the maintenance of records related to offerings. In its preliminary report, the SIT flagged the suspected involvement of certain individuals, leading to the registration of the case and the launch of a detailed investigation.
Investigating agencies are now examining CCTV footage, financial records and other evidence to determine whether there was any misappropriation or tampering involving donation funds or valuable offerings.
Officials said the SIT investigation is ongoing and the role of additional individuals may emerge as the probe progresses. Police stated that every aspect of the case is being thoroughly examined and that anyone found guilty will face legal action.
