Chandigarh: Convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was released on parole once again on Tuesday after being granted a 30-day parole in a rape case. He walked out of Sunaria village district jail amid tight police security arrangements.
According to details, Ram Rahim came out of the jail around 6:35 am in an SUV under heavy police escort. This is the 16th time he has been released on parole or furlough since being sentenced to imprisonment by a special CBI court in August 2017.
Earlier in January as well, Ram Rahim had been granted a 40-day parole.
The Dera Sacha Sauda chief is serving a 20-year sentence in connection with the rape of two women followers. He was convicted in 2017 by a special CBI court in Panchkula.
