New Delhi: The price of CNG in the national capital has been increased by ₹2 per kilogram, marking the fourth hike in less than two weeks. According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), CNG will now cost ₹83.09 per kg in Delhi. Since May 15, the cumulative increase in CNG prices has reached ₹4 per kg.
The hike is expected to impact public transport systems in cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, where a large number of buses, taxis and commercial vehicles run on CNG.
Meanwhile, amid fluctuations in the global crude oil market and ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, petrol and diesel prices were also increased once again on Monday. This is the fourth increase in fuel rates within a span of less than two weeks.
Following the latest revision, petrol prices in Delhi have crossed the ₹100-per-litre mark. Petrol became costlier by ₹2.61 and is now retailing at ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel prices rose by ₹2.71 to reach ₹95.20 per litre.
Similar increases have also been reported in other major metropolitan cities including Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, adding further financial burden on consumers and the transport sector.
