Ludhiana: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited Ludhiana on Sunday where he attended the 346th monthly widow ration distribution programme at the renowned Shri Gyan Sthal Temple near Subhani Building Chowk.

Saini, who was on his second visit to the city within a week after touring Ludhiana on June 7, received a warm welcome from local residents and temple management members. He was greeted with flower garlands and traditional honours upon his arrival.

The Chief Minister participated as the chief guest at the welfare programme, during which ration kits were distributed to widowed and underprivileged women. He personally handed over ration supplies to beneficiaries and lauded the temple’s sustained efforts in social service.

Addressing the gathering, Saini praised the institution for setting an example through its long-running humanitarian initiatives and urged members of society to contribute towards helping the needy and vulnerable sections.

The event also witnessed a lighter moment when the Chief Minister interacted with children present at the venue. Despite the heavy security arrangements and official protocol, he spent time meeting youngsters and exchanging greetings with them.

Organisers used the occasion to highlight the temple’s various social welfare activities and community service programmes. Several prominent citizens, local leaders and social workers were also present at the event.

Security was tightened around the temple premises, with a significant police presence deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
