Sewing machines distributed in Jalandhar under ‘Nanhi Chhaan’ campaign to boost women employment

Chandigarh: A new livelihood initiative inspired by Harsimrat Kaur Badal has been launched in Jalandhar, aiming to support women’s employment by distributing sewing machines to needy families.

The campaign has been initiated by Sukhminder Singh Rajpal, national spokesperson of the Shiromani Akali Dal, to help economically weaker households become self-reliant.

Under this initiative, sewing machines will be provided to families willing to earn a livelihood through home-based work. In the first phase, two families have been given machines, while a total of ten families are expected to benefit within a month.

Rajpal said the campaign draws inspiration from the “Nanni Chhaan” initiative, which has helped create employment opportunities for thousands of women. He added that the focus is on empowering women who want to support their families through work from home.

He also urged the Punjab government to introduce similar employment schemes to help more people become financially independent.

Several local representatives and community members were present during the event.
