Voting to Be Held at 189 Polling Booths Across 86 Wards
Fazilka News (May 15): District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu informed that, as per the election schedule issued by the Punjab State Election Commission, a total of 45 candidates filed their nomination papers on the third day for the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for May 26, 2026 in Municipal Corporation Abohar, Municipal Council Fazilka, and Nagar Panchayat Arniwala.
Providing further details, the District Election Officer said that 10 nominations were filed in Fazilka, 26 in Abohar, and 9 in Arniwala.
She added that nomination centers have been established at:
SDM Office, Fazilka for Fazilka candidates,
SDM Office, Abohar for Abohar candidates, and
Community Hall, Arniwala for Arniwala candidates.
Nomination papers can be submitted until May 16, 2026. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 18, while candidates can withdraw their nominations on May 19.
Polling will be conducted on May 26 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the counting of votes will be held on May 29, 2026.
The District Election Officer further informed that a total of 189 polling booths have been set up across 86 wards for these elections. This includes:
50 wards and 120 polling booths in Municipal Corporation Abohar,
25 wards and 58 polling booths in Municipal Council Fazilka, and
11 wards and 11 polling booths in Nagar Panchayat Arniwala.
A total of 1,73,754 voters will exercise their franchise in these elections, including 91,474 male voters, 82,272 female voters, and 8 other voters.
