Jalandhar News (June 10): In a landmark step towards citizen-centric and technology-driven policing as per the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday launched the all-new SAANJH Citizen Portal at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur. The 134-year-old Academy is the premier training institution of Punjab Police.

The DGP, accompanied by Special DGP Community Affairs Division (CAD) Gurpreet Kaur Deo, also flagged off a fleet of 93 electric scooters for women police personnel managing Punjab Police Mahila Mitra and Women Help Desks, enhancing mobility and strengthening the capacity to deliver responsive policing across the state.

The upgraded SAANJH Citizen Portal (saanjh.punjabpolice.gov.in) builds on over a decade of service delivery through 530+ SAANJH Kendras and introduces 14 new features including Aadhaar-enabled eKYC for police verifications, QR-code authenticated certificates to eliminate forgery, digital receipts for all payments, a revamped missing mobile phone reporting process, a fully paperless tenant verification system with dual-address verification, dedicated services for senior citizens, and a citizen feedback system for Passport Verification Officers that has already recorded over 90,000 responses since February 2025.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the new SAANJH Portal represents a convergence of technology, governance reform, and citizen-first thinking—reducing the need for physical visits, eliminating middlemen, and placing verified, real-time police services directly within reach of every resident of Punjab. The portal’s integration with the National Digital Police repository for vehicle NOCs and missing persons registries, along with a new unified Police Verification App supporting multiple services, marks a significant leap forward in transparent and accountable policing, he added.

Reaffirming Punjab Police’s commitment to community policing, DGP Gaurav Yadav highlighted ongoing initiatives such as Yuva Saanjh, the Student Police Cadet Scheme, Jagriti, Women Help Desks, and Saanjh Rahat Kendras. “Punjab Police remains firmly committed to its guiding principle—‘Haq Tuhada, Farz Saada’ (Your Right, Our Duty),” he said.

Meanwhile, On the occasion, the DGP Punjab has also launched the new SAANJH mascots Shera and Shakti, which have been created for making outreach of the Punjab Police to the community, more interactive and friendly.

On the occasion, Commissioner of Police (CP) Jalandhar Dhanpreet Kaur, CP Ludhiana Swapan Sharma, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varjeet Walia, SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk, SSP SBS Nagar Tushar Gupta and SSP Ludhiana Rural Ankur Gupta were also present.
