Administration registers 42 FIRs, seizes 110 vehicles, imposes Rs 1.25 crore penalty

Kapurthala News (June 12): Reinforcing the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining, the district administration has registrated 42 FIRs, seizure of 110 vehicles and imposed penalties more Rs 1.25 crore against violators.

Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal stated that stringent action has been taken against offenders involved in illegal mining, with as many as 42 FIRs registered between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2026. Besides, 110 vehicles engaged in illegal mining activities have been seized and penalties exceeding Rs 1.25 crore imposed on violators. He also informed that the district administration would not allow illegal mining to flourish under any circumstances and warned that strict action would continue against all those found violating mining regulations. Any individual or group found indulging in illegal extraction or transportation will face stringent legal action.

Bansal further stated that joint teams of the Mining, Police and Revenue departments have been keeping a close watch on vulnerable locations and conducting regular inspections to prevent violations.
