Washington: US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a 50% tariff on goods imported from Brazil, sharing the decision through a letter on Truth Social.
In the letter, Trump criticised the ongoing trial of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, calling it an “international embarrassment” for Brazil and describing the proceedings as a “witch hunt.”
Bolsonaro is facing trial over allegations of attempting a coup related to the riots in Brazil’s capital, Brasilia, on January 8, 2023.
