Ghaggar drain breached in Bhiwani, 2,500 acres submerged

Bhiwani: A breach in the Bhiwani Ghaggar drain towards Dang village has submerged around 2,500 acres of land, triggering a flood-like situation in Sagwan village. Vast stretches, including agricultural fields and residential areas, remain under water.

On Friday, Haryana Women and Irrigation Minister Shruti Chaudhary visited the village to assess the situation.

A day later, a five-member team of the All India Kisan Sabha — comprising district president Ramphal Deshwal, vice president Comrade Om Prakash, Karan Singh Jainawas, Randhir Sangwan and Rajesh Meeran — also inspected the affected areas.

The delegation said three to four feet of water has accumulated in several parts of the village, including the crematorium, panchayat ghar, Anganwadi centre, Akhara, government high school and water works, severely affecting daily life.
