Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has taken strict action in connection with the murder of private school teacher Manisha in Bhiwani. On his instructions, Bhiwani Superintendent of Police Manbir Singh has been transferred and replaced by Sumit Kumar, a 2014-batch IPS officer.
In addition, Loharu police station SHO Ashok, woman ASI Shakuntala, ESI Anoop from the Dial 112 ERV team, constable Pawan, and SPO Dharmendra have been suspended with immediate effect. Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against them.
The murder of Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman village in Bhiwani district, has triggered widespread outrage. The victim’s family has demanded the arrest of the accused and strict action against negligent police personnel. Dissatisfied with the police’s response so far, the family and a local committee have given the administration an ultimatum to act by Friday afternoon.
Villagers also blocked the Bhiwani–Loharu road in protest, though the road was cleared shortly after. Demonstrations are continuing in Dhigawa, where villagers, family members, and others are demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Rohtak Range IG Y. Puran Kumar and SP Manbir Singh reached the protest site and tried to pacify the protesters.
