Kathua: Seven people were killed and six others injured after a cloudburst hit a remote village in Kathua district, officials said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in Jor Valley of Rajbagh area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The cloudburst triggered heavy damage to land and property while snapping connectivity to the village amid continuous rains since last night.
A joint team of police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been dispatched to the affected area, officials added.
Meanwhile, landslides were reported from Bagad and Changda villages under Kathua police station and Dilwan-Hutli under Lakhanpur police station. However, no major damage was reported in these areas.
