BJP’s Amit Malviya slams Rahul Gandhi over ‘vote theft’ claim after Lokniti-CSDS apology

New Delhi: BJP IT department in-charge Amit Malviya on Tuesday criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his allegations of “vote theft” in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. His remarks came after Lokniti-CSDS co-director Sanjay Kumar apologised for an error in the data presented in his X post.

Malviya said Rahul Gandhi had relied on Lokniti-CSDS figures, which were later admitted to be incorrect. Sharing a post on X, Malviya wrote, “The institution whose data Rahul Gandhi relied upon to defame the voters of Maharashtra has now accepted that its figures were wrong – not just on Maharashtra but also on SIR. Where has it brought Rahul Gandhi and the Congress to stand? Who shamelessly targeted the Election Commission and went to the extent of calling the real voters fake? Shameful.”

He further termed Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in Bihar as a “Save the Infiltrator” yatra and demanded that it be called off. “Rahul Gandhi should immediately give up his ‘Infiltrator Bachao Yatra’ in Bihar and tender an unconditional apology to the people of India for his ruthless and regressive politics,” Malviya wrote.

Earlier, Lokniti-CSDS co-director Sanjay Kumar apologised on X for the error. “I sincerely apologise for the tweets posted regarding the Maharashtra elections. The error occurred while comparing the data for the 2024 Lok Sabha and the 2024 AS. The data in the queue was misread by our data team. Due to this, the tweet has been removed. I had no intention of spreading any kind of misinformation,” he said.
