24X7 state flood control room monitoring entire situation and extending assistance to flood hit people
Jalandhar News: The Punjab Government has evacuated as many as 6,600 people from flood-hit areas and shifted them to relief camps established at safer locations.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Advisor to Punjab Tourisam and Cultural Affairs Department Deepak Bali, while inspecting the State Flood Control Room here in Jalandhar, said that the State Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has set up a state-level control room (0181-2240064) in Jalandhar to monitor the entire rescue and relief operations. The initiative aims to ensure timely delivery of relief measures to the affected population.
Sharing details, the DC and the Advisor said that a total of 835 villages have been impacted by the floods, including 14 in Amritsar, 21 in Bathinda, seven in Barnala, 20 in Ludhiana, 81 in Pathankot, 20 in Fazilka, 11 in Mansa, 45 in Tarn Taran, three in SBS Nagar, one in Malerkotla, 64 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 22 in Sangrur, 93 in Ferozepur, one in SAS Nagar, 107 in Kapurthala, 202 in Gurdaspur, one in Fatehgarh Sahib, 35 in Moga, two in Rupnagar, and 85 in Hoshiarpur.
On the rescue front, they informed that over 6,600 people have been safely evacuated, including 2,007 in Ferozepur, 2,200 in Gurdaspur, 1,100 in Pathankot, 220 in Kapurthala, 1052 in Hoshiarpur, and 20 in Moga. These individuals have been shifted to 88 relief camps set up by the Government in flood-affected districts.
They assured that there is ample availability of food, medicines, and other relief materials at these camps. They also reiterated the Government’s commitment to extend maximum support to the affected families, adding that “every possible effort is being made to ease the hardships of people during this crisis.” They further urged people still trapped in flood affected areas to contact state control room number 0181-2240064 for help and assistance from the Government ensuring that prompt response will be given by the officials concerned with relief materials or rescue operations.
