KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army on Wednesday announced nationwide restrictions from morning until 5 pm, followed by a curfew till 6 am the next day, to prevent potential violence during protests.
In a statement, the Army said that any demonstration, vandalism, arson, or attacks on persons and property during this period would be treated as criminal activity and dealt with accordingly.
The Army said the measures were necessary to prevent incidents of looting, arson, and other subversive activities. “There are also potential threats of rape and violent attacks against individuals,” the statement added.
Authorities said the restrictions and curfew were imposed in view of the prevailing security situation in the country.
