CM Mann slams BJP for ‘misleading people’ over CM’s camp office

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misleading the public with false claims instead of addressing real issues concerning Punjab.

Mann said that the BJP was spreading misinformation by referring to his camp office at Kothi No. 50 in Sector 2, Chandigarh, as “Sheesh Mahal,” calling the claim “highly condemnable.”

He clarified that Kothi No. 50 is similar to other houses in the same row and pointed out that Kothis numbered 45 to 50 include the residence of a Haryana BJP minister. “Will the BJP also call that Kothi Sheesh Mahal?” he asked.

Displaying a document related to the property, Mann said that Kothi No. 50 was officially designated as a camp office and a part of the Chief Minister’s premises, also used as a guest house.

“Guests visiting the Chief Minister meet him here and sometimes stay overnight,” he said.

The Chief Minister demanded a response from the BJP, reminding that during former Congress Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s tenure, his guest Aroosa Alam and Advocate General Atul Nanda had also stayed at this guest house.

Mann said it was “unjustified” to label it as Sheesh Mahal, accusing the BJP of misleading the people and provoking unnecessary controversy.
