CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has suspended Moga’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Municipal Commissioner Charumita over alleged irregularities in a land compensation case. Chief Secretary KAP Sinha issued the suspension orders on Thursday under the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970.
According to the order, Charumita’s headquarters will remain in Chandigarh during the suspension period, and she will not leave without prior approval from the competent authority.
Government sources said the case pertains to the acquisition of land for the national highway from Dharamkot to Bahadurwala, where irregularities amounting to ₹3.7 crore were detected in compensation transactions. The Vigilance Bureau has reportedly prepared a charge sheet against the PCS officer.
The issue surfaced after a farmer, who did not receive compensation for his acquired land, approached the court, leading to the exposure of the alleged irregularities.
Charumita’s statement has not yet been released, but she had earlier denied any wrongdoing, saying she had no role in the matter.
