Amritsar: YouTube has suspended the official YouTube channel of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for one week, citing a violation of its policy on violent criminal organisations.
The channel, titled “SGPC, Sri Amritsar” @SGPCSriAmritsar, broadcasts Gurbani Kirtan live from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib during the evening recitation of Rehras Sahib.
The SGPC secretary said the suspension followed an earlier video posted on October 31, in which a Sikh preacher made remarks about Sikh warriors linked to events of 1984. He said the Sikh Sangat should watch the live telecast of Gurbani Kirtan from the Golden Temple through other available channels until the suspension is lifted.
He added that YouTube conveyed the action to the Sikh organisation in a message highlighting a breach of its violent criminal organisation policy.
The SGPC has shared information about the suspension on its social media platforms and urged early restoration of the channel’s activity.
