GRP Punjab organises cycle rally in Patiala under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign
Patiala News: In a unique initiative to sensitise youth against the menace of drugs, Special Director General of Police, Government Railway Police (GRP), Punjab, Shashi Prabha Dwivedi today pedalled a bicycle and flagged off a cycle rally in Patiala city.
The rally was organised by the Railway Police under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav. Flagging off the rally from the GRP Punjab Headquarters in Patiala, the Special DGP said that the Railway Police is actively contributing to the state-wide campaign against drugs through intensified enforcement as well as awareness initiatives.
Special DGP Dwivedi said that the primary objective of the cycle rally was to motivate the general public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle. She emphasised that promoting physical fitness and encouraging participation in sports can play a vital role in steering youth away from substance abuse.
The cycle rally passed through Fouara Chowk, Polo Ground Road, Mahindra College, NIS Chowk, YPS Chowk and Thikriwala Chowk, before culminating at the GRP Punjab Headquarters.
Addressing the gathering, the Special DGP described drugs as a serious social evil and said that its eradication is possible only through collective efforts, sustained awareness and active public participation. She added that such awareness programmes will continue in the future.
Officers and personnel of GRP Punjab, District Police Patiala, along with sportspersons and other participants, took part in the rally. Through the initiative, a strong message was conveyed to society—particularly the youth—to remain drug-free, highlighting physical fitness, discipline and positive thinking as key tools in the fight against drugs.
