Moga youth booked for posting photos with weapons on social media

Chandigarh: The Moga police have registered a case against a youth for uploading photographs with weapons on social media, officials said on Wednesday.

Moga SSP Ajay Gandhi said the action was taken in line with the Punjab government’s strict directions to curb the promotion of arms culture and maintain public order.

The accused has been identified as Pritpal Singh, a resident of Chuharchak village under the jurisdiction of Ajitwal police station. According to the police, Pritpal had uploaded several photographs on his Facebook profile, “Pritpal Singh Khalsa,” in which he was seen posing with weapons.

ASI Mohkam Singh of Ajitwal police station said the police received information from an informant that the youth was openly promoting gun culture on social media. He said such acts violate the orders issued by the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner), which prohibit the public and digital display of weapons to prevent fear and terror among the public.
