Punjab MPs meet Amit Shah, submit request for CBI probe in Randhawa suicide case

New Delhi: The alleged suicide case of Punjab Warehousing Corporation officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa is likely to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with Congress MPs formally moving a request in this regard.

A delegation of Punjab Congress MPs met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and submitted a written memorandum seeking a CBI inquiry into the case.

The MPs, including Charanjit Singh Channi, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Dharamvira Gandhi, stated that given the seriousness and public importance of the case, an independent probe by the CBI is necessary.

The development follows Shah’s statement in Parliament earlier in the day, where he said the Centre would consider handing over the case to the CBI if Punjab MPs submitted a formal written request.

In their letter, the MPs also demanded that lookout notices be issued against those named in the FIR registered at Ranjit Avenue police station in Amritsar on March 21, to prevent them from leaving the country.

The move is expected to intensify political pressure and could pave the way for a central probe into the high-profile case.
