Punjab to witness multiple holidays between April 8 and 14; schools, offices to remain shut

Chandigarh: Punjab will observe a series of public holidays between April 8 and April 14, offering a break for employees and students across the state.

A gazetted holiday has been declared on April 8 to mark the birth anniversary of Nabha Das Ji. On this day, schools, colleges and government offices across Punjab will remain closed. The holiday has been officially included in the state’s gazetted holiday list.

This will be followed by the second Saturday on April 11 and Sunday on April 12, further extending the break period.

Vaisakhi, one of Punjab’s major festivals, will be observed on April 14 this year. The day has been declared a gazetted holiday, during which all educational institutions and government offices will remain shut. The day also marks the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, adding to its significance.

April is considered the beginning of the academic session in schools across the country. Following annual examinations, students are promoted to new classes, and institutions roll out updated timetables and curricula.

Authorities have advised people to plan their schedules in advance, as banks will also remain closed on these holidays, which may affect financial transactions and cheque clearances.
