Chandigarh: Tensions have escalated at Bathinda Central Jail after alleged audio clips linked to Bhagwant Singh Bajeke, a close aide of Amritpal Singh, went viral on social media.
Jail authorities allege threats
The jail administration has filed a complaint accusing Bajeke of issuing death threats to the jail superintendent and his family. Police at Bathinda Cantonment Police Station have initiated an investigation.
SHO Raghveer Singh confirmed that a formal complaint has been received from jail officials and is being examined in detail.
Bajeke is currently lodged in Bathinda Central Jail in connection with the Ajnala violence case, along with four others.
Audio clips allege mistreatment
In the viral clips, Bajeke is heard making serious allegations against jail authorities. During a conversation with his mother, he claims he is being denied access to the gurdwara inside the jail and kept in isolation.
He further alleges that officials pulled his beard and subjected him to mental and physical harassment.
Probe underway
Police are now verifying both the threat allegations made by jail authorities and the claims of custodial mistreatment raised in the audio clips.
