Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party has begun large-scale mobilisation of its workers and organisational leadership for a crucial meeting scheduled in Jalandhar on Wednesday.
Show of strength after political setback
Party sources said more than 1,000 observers along with several MLAs have been asked to attend. The move is being seen as both a show of strength and an attempt to stabilise the organisation after seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The observers are also expected to act as “messengers” to take the government’s development agenda to the grassroots ahead of upcoming Assembly elections.
Leadership to address cadre
The meeting will be led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party’s Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia.
They are likely to direct observers to focus on three key issues:
Ensuring canal water reaches tail-end farmers
Expanding universal health insurance coverage
Promoting financial assistance schemes for women
Push for scheme registrations
MLAs and workers will be instructed to accelerate registrations for welfare schemes, including health cards and the ‘Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Scheme’ for women.
Party leaders said observers are already visiting villages and wards to strengthen the organisation, and the meeting aims to improve coordination and sharpen outreach efforts.
