‘Made in India’ reflects quality and national commitment, says Piyush Goyal in London

London: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the “Made in India” label represents the country’s credibility and commitment to quality, adding that quality is not just a business standard but a national responsibility.

Addressing a business session in London, Goyal highlighted the success of Florence Shoe Company founder Akeel Ahmed Panaruna, saying footwear manufactured in Ambur, Tamil Nadu, is strengthening India’s global reputation through leading international brands.

He said Panaruna’s work has not only showcased Indian craftsmanship on the global stage but has also promoted rural employment, women’s empowerment and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Goyal was on a three-day visit to the United Kingdom from June 25 to 27, during which discussions were held on the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

The agreement is scheduled to come into force on July 15 and will provide duty-free access to several labour-intensive Indian products, including footwear and leather goods, in the UK market.
