Moga: A 33-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison in Punjab’s Moga district, with his family claiming he had been unable to cope with the death of his three-year-old daughter.
According to the family, the child died after drowning in a drain around three months ago, leaving the man deeply distressed.
In her statement to the police, the deceased’s wife, Baljit Kaur, said her husband, Charanjit Singh, had been suffering from severe emotional trauma since their daughter’s death. She said he was unable to overcome the loss and allegedly took the extreme step because of the prolonged mental anguish.
After consuming poison, Charanjit Singh was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he died during treatment.
Police have initiated proceedings in the case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
