Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping two women followers, returned to Sunaria district jail in Rohtak on Friday after completing his 30-day parole.
According to jail administration sources, Ram Rahim reached the high-security prison complex at around 4:59 pm under tight security. His parole had begun on May 26.
Sources said that during the parole period, Ram Rahim stayed at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa, where he spent most of his time. He remained in regular contact with his followers through video conferencing and also supervised renovation work inside the Dera premises.
Dera Sacha Sauda has a large number of followers across Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and several other states.
Ram Rahim was convicted by a special CBI court in August 2017 for raping two women disciples and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Since his conviction, he has been granted parole and furlough on multiple occasions.
