Mohali: A bomb threat sent via email to courts in Mohali, Derabassi and Kharar has prompted heightened security measures across the district, leading authorities to impose strict restrictions on public access to court complexes.

According to officials, the threat email was received on June 1. Following the alert, authorities restricted entry to the court premises from June 3 to June 5 as a precautionary measure. During this period, only litigants, accused persons, lawyers involved in court proceedings and authorised government staff are being allowed access.

Security agencies launched extensive inspections at the Mohali court complex on Tuesday morning. Bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams carried out detailed searches and sanitisation operations throughout the premises to rule out any potential threat.

Court operations remained temporarily suspended while the security checks were underway. Normal functioning resumed only after police and security officials declared the complex safe.

Officials have also directed security personnel and court staff to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious object or activity. Additional surveillance measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of judicial officers, employees and visitors.

Authorities said investigations are underway to trace the origin of the threat email and identify those responsible.
