DIG Jalandhar Range Leads the Operation; SSP Jalandhar Rural Personally Inspects Ground-Level Action
Jalandhar News (July 13, 2026): In compliance with the directions of the Government of Punjab and the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, Jalandhar Rural Police today launched Operation Prahar 3.0. The special operation is aimed at taking stringent action against gangsters, their associates, harbourers, Proclaimed Offenders (POs), wanted criminals, bail-outs, and other criminal elements operating in the district.
The operation was led by Shri Naveen Singla, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jalandhar Range, who personally visited Jalandhar Rural to review the ongoing operation, supervise the police teams deployed in the field, and issue necessary directions to ensure effective implementation.
Under the leadership of S. Harvinder Singh Virk, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, the operation is being carried out in a coordinated manner across the district. The SSP also personally visited various locations, inspected the raids, interacted with police teams, and reviewed the implementation of Operation Prahar 3.0.
The operation is being supervised by Dr.Mukesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Headquarters); Manjeet Kaur, Superintendent of Police (PBI); Lakhwinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigation); Rashpal Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Crime); Deepak Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Homicide); Manjeet Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic); Narinder Singh Aujla, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Kartarpur; Rajeev Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Adampur; Onkar Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Nakodar; Sarwan Singh Ball, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Shahkot; and Bharat Masih Ladhar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Phillaur. Besides this, all Gazetted Officers of Jalandhar Rural Police are supervising the operation, while SHOs are leading police teams in their respective jurisdictions.
During Operation Prahar 3.0, Jalandhar Rural Police carried out extensive enforcement across the district, taking legal and preventive action against nearly 300 individuals involved in various criminal activities. The major achievements of the operation are as follows:
During Operation Prahar 3.0, Jalandhar Rural Police carried out extensive enforcement across the district, taking legal and preventive action against more than 300 criminal elements. A total of 75 raids were conducted, 34 FIRs were registered, 36 accused were arrested in fresh cases, 71 wanted criminals and 11 Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were apprehended, 65 preventive actions were initiated, 9 dossiers and 2 Intelligence Reports (IRs) were prepared, 12 history-sheeters were verified, 370 traffic challans were issued, and 51 vehicles were impounded. The operation also resulted in the recovery of 347 grams of heroin, 182 intoxicant tablets, 2 motorcycles, and 15 litres 750 ml of illicit liquor. Additionally, legal action was taken by registering 31 cases under the NDPS Act leading to the arrest of 34 accused, while 3 cases under the Excise Act resulted in the arrest of 2 accused.
The SSP Jalandhar Rural informed that a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was conducted throughout the district on July 13, 2026. Police teams carried out extensive searches at isolated places, abandoned buildings, drug hotspots, and other suspected locations. Verification of suspicious persons, wanted criminals, Proclaimed Offenders (POs), and bail-outs was also undertaken.
As part of the operation, night domination has been intensified across the district, with special checkpoints established at strategic locations. Vehicles and individuals are being thoroughly checked to curb criminal activities, ensure public safety, and strengthen law and order.
The SSP further stated that 112 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) remain deployed across Jalandhar Rural round the clock to provide prompt emergency assistance. Citizens have been urged to dial 112 in case of any emergency.
Reiterating the commitment of Jalandhar Rural Police, the SSP assured the public that the identity of persons providing information regarding gangsters, drug trafficking, extortion, threats, or any other criminal activity will be kept strictly confidential and their safety will be ensured. Every credible input received by the police will be acted upon promptly and strictly in accordance with the law.
