New Delhi: The troubles of suspended Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and his family have deepened in the Chandigarh bribery case, with a special CBI court ordering that all bank accounts linked to Bhullar remain frozen until the investigation is completed.
The court has also earlier rejected a plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking day-to-day hearing in the matter.
In the same case, difficulties are also mounting for co-accused Krishnu Sharda, as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now joined the probe alongside the CBI. Earlier, raids were conducted at 11 locations, including Bhullar’s residence in Chandigarh.
Sources said the ED may soon issue notices to several Punjab IAS and IPS officers for questioning as part of the widening investigation.
Meanwhile, the court has approved the CBI’s application related to the preliminary enquiry (PE), clearing the way for further legal and investigative proceedings in the case.
