Chandigarh: Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed serious concern over the alleged irregularities in donations and offerings made at the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying the matter has deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees.
Hooda said allegations of large-scale irregularities involving donations contributed by devotees from India and abroad were extremely disturbing. He added that the issue had caused emotional pain to countless people who have immense faith in Lord Ram.
The senior Congress leader said theft or misappropriation of religious donations is not only a legal offence but also a grave moral and religious sin. He noted that devotees had contributed their hard-earned money with complete faith, devotion and trust towards the temple.
Hooda said every rupee donated by devotees reflected their unwavering belief and commitment, and any misuse of those contributions amounted to a betrayal of that faith.
He stressed that the highest standards of transparency, honesty and accountability must be maintained in the management of donations at religious institutions to ensure public trust and prevent such incidents in the future.
