Mumbai: Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez has taken a significant step in the ₹200 crore money laundering case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar by expressing her willingness to become a government witness.
During the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate sought additional time from the court to file its response to her plea. The matter was heard by Special Judge Prashant Sharma, who has now listed the next hearing for May 8.
The plea was filed on April 17 by Fernandez’s legal team, following which the court had issued notice to the ED seeking its reply. The actor, who has been questioned multiple times in the case, was earlier named as an accused in a supplementary chargesheet filed by the agency.
In earlier proceedings, the Delhi High Court had dismissed her petition seeking quashing of the case, a decision that was later upheld when the Supreme Court of India refused to intervene.
The case continues to unfold, with the ED’s response on her approver plea expected to play a crucial role in the next phase of proceedings.
