Punjab BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia hospitalised after falling unconscious at Jalandhar event

Jalandhar: Senior Punjab BJP leader and former minister Manoranjan Kalia was rushed to hospital after suddenly falling unconscious during a public event in Jalandhar on Wednesday, triggering concern among party workers and officials present at the venue.

Kalia had arrived to attend the inauguration programme of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) being inaugurated by Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu. According to eyewitnesses, he was waiting for the Union Minister when he suddenly collapsed, creating panic at the event site.

Security personnel and BJP leaders immediately came to his aid and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where doctors are currently monitoring his condition.

Preliminary information suggests that Kalia had been suffering from fever since Tuesday. However, despite not being fully well, he attended the programme along with other party leaders.

Sources said his blood pressure dropped after his sodium levels reportedly fell, causing him to lose consciousness. He was admitted to the emergency ward, where doctors conducted medical examinations and provided treatment.

Hospital sources said his condition is currently stable, though he remains under observation as doctors continue to assess his health.
