Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has convened a fresh Cabinet meeting on June 1, with several important policy decisions expected to be discussed and approved.
The meeting will be held at 12 noon at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Chandigarh. While the Punjab government has not yet released the official agenda, sources indicated that a number of significant administrative and governance-related matters are likely to come up for consideration.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes shortly after the state Cabinet approved a major relief measure for outsourced employees working in various government departments. The government had cleared a proposal to bring outsourced workers under direct government contracts, a move expected to benefit thousands of employees across the state.
The Cabinet had also approved the reconstitution of a committee tasked with examining the issue of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears for government employees and pensioners.
Officials said additional decisions related to employee welfare, governance reforms and other state matters could also be taken during the upcoming meeting.
