NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for around 49.19 lakh Central Government employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners.
The DA and DR were earlier at 55% of the basic pay or pension. The new hike has come into effect from July 1, 2025.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the increase will have an annual impact of Rs 10,083.96 crore on the state exchequer.
