Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat inaugurates Rs. 4 crore power transformer at Focal Point
Jalandhar News (Pawan Dhupar): Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ambitious project ‘Roshan Punjab’ aimed at freeing the state from power cuts, Punjab’s Minister for Horticulture, Freedom Fighters, and Defence Services Welfare, Mohinder Bhagat, today inaugurated a 31.5 MVA power transformer worth about Rs. 4 crore at Focal Point-2, Jalandhar.
Addressing the gathering, the Cabinet Minister said that the Roshan Punjab project has been launched to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people of Punjab. Under this project, Rs. 289.20 crore will be spent in Jalandhar district for the installation of new transformers, new power substations, new lines, and feeder deloading. He informed that the works include Rs.145.90 crore for deloading of 11 KV feeders, Rs. 25.50 crore for new distribution transformers, Rs. 12.30 crore for enhancing transformer capacity, Rs. 29.30 crore for setting up new 66 KV power substations, Rs. 44.50 crore for increasing capacity of 66 KV transformers, and Rs. 31.70 crore for installation of 66 KV lines. AAP leader Dinesh Dhall was also present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhagat said that upon completion, these works will significantly improve power supply and ensure uninterrupted electricity for industrial connections as well. He added that the 66 KV Focal Point substation, whose transformer capacity was earlier 20 MVA, has now been enhanced to 31.5 MVA, ensuring stable power supply for industries in the area.
The Minister reiterated that the Punjab Government is committed to providing quality and uninterrupted power to consumers. He said that the Bhagwant Mann Government has prioritized development and public welfare from the beginning and continues to work tirelessly to make Punjab a prosperous and developed state.
Later, the Minister also planted a sapling at the Focal Point power station, urging people to contribute towards environmental conservation.

Sondhi, Executive Engineer Sunny Bhangra, Executive Engineer P&M Davinder Singh, Substation Engineer Manharpreet Singh, Engineers Rajesh Gupta, Neeraj Piplani, and Kulwinder Kumar, SDO Kanwalpreet Singh, Rajeev Kumar, Gopal Sharma, Rupinder Sharma, Balwant Singh Bhullar, Pushpinder Singh, and Pradeep Saini were also present.
