IndiGo asked to cut 10 per cent flights to stabilise operations

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Tuesday said that IndiGo has been directed to reduce its flights by 10 per cent to restore normal operations after a week of large-scale cancellations that caused major inconvenience to passengers.

Sharing a picture from his meeting with IndiGo CEO Peter Albers, the minister said the airline management was called for discussions on the ongoing crisis. He added that reducing the flight schedule will help stabilise operations and prevent further cancellations.

Naidu said IndiGo will continue to serve all its destinations, and only the frequency of certain routes will be reduced. The 10 per cent cut is twice the reduction advised earlier by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday.

The ministry expects the revised schedule to ease the pressure on the airline and bring operations back on track.
