Ahmedabad: The third match of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup will see 2024 finalists India and South Africa face off at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. The match begins at 7 pm, with the toss scheduled for 6.30 pm.
The two sides last met in the final of the 2024 edition. India had posted 176 runs in 20 overs after opting to bat first. In reply, South Africa were restricted to 168/8, handing India a seven-run victory and their first T20 World Cup title in 17 years.
Strong group-stage performance
Both teams topped their respective groups in the league stage with four wins each.
India defeated USA, Namibia, Pakistan and the Netherlands to finish first in their group. South Africa secured wins over Canada, Afghanistan, New Zealand and UAE to top Group D.
With both sides entering the Super 8 unbeaten, Friday’s clash is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the semi-final race.
