CBSE cancels Class 10 board exams in Middle East till March 11, Class 12 exam postponed amid Iran conflict

New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled Class 10 board examinations scheduled till March 11 in Middle Eastern countries due to the ongoing conflict and deteriorating security situation in the region.

The board said the decision was taken keeping in view the safety of students as tensions escalate in Iran and surrounding areas. Authorities noted that reaching examination centres in such conditions could pose risks for students.

In a related decision, CBSE has also postponed the Class 12 board examination scheduled for March 7 at centres in the Middle East.

The board has not yet announced how the cancelled examinations will be evaluated. Officials said details about the assessment method will be shared later.

CBSE is expected to decide whether the results will be calculated using an internal assessment formula or if fresh examinations will be conducted once the situation improves.

The move has caused concern among thousands of Indian students and their families living in Gulf and other Middle Eastern countries, who were preparing for the ongoing board examinations.
