Chandigarh: The family of deceased district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has urged Members of Parliament to support a demand for a CBI probe into his death, alleging lack of trust in the ongoing police investigation.
Addressing a press conference, Randhawa’s wife Upinder Kaur, along with other family members, appealed to MPs across parties to sign a memorandum seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry and submit it to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The family said several MPs, including Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Charanjit Singh Channi, Dharamvira Gandhi and Harsimrat Kaur Badal have already backed the demand by submitting a letter to the Centre.
They further appealed to remaining MPs from Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, Waris Punjab De, and the Aam Aadmi Party to extend support, stating that the issue is not political but a matter of justice.
The family alleged that despite efforts, they have little faith in the Punjab Police probe, claiming that there was delay and lack of seriousness in registering the case and arresting the accused.
They also accused police of giving “VIP treatment” to former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, who has been arrested in connection with the case. According to the family, Bhullar was presented in court without handcuffs and appeared well-dressed, while slogans were raised in his support.
The case has triggered political reactions across Punjab, with growing demands for an independent probe to ensure accountability and justice.
