New Delhi: Fifteen-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been selected in the India A cricket team squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka.
The squad was announced on Thursday, with Tilak Varma being named captain of the side.
The tri-series, scheduled to be held in June, will feature India A, Sri Lanka A and the Afghanistan A cricket team.
Young batting sensation continues rapid rise
Vaibhav has already represented India in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament and the Under-19 World Cup.
Earlier this year, he grabbed national attention after smashing 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final and was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
Impressive IPL performances
The teenage batter is currently playing his second season in the Indian Premier League and has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the tournament.
Vaibhav has already scored two centuries in the IPL. He first hit a ton against Gujarat in 2025 and followed it up this season with a 37-ball century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In the ongoing 2026 IPL season, he has scored 440 runs in 11 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 237.
His explosive century against Hyderabad in Jaipur included 12 sixes and five boundaries.
