Punjabi singer Yashinder Kaur found dead in canal days after alleged kidnapping

Chandigarh: Punjabi singer Yashinder Kaur, also known as Inder Kaur, was found dead in Neelon Canal on Tuesday morning, nearly six days after she was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint.

The 29-year-old singer’s body was recovered from the canal around 11 am and later sent to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for post-mortem examination.

According to the family, a man from Moga had allegedly been pressuring the singer to marry him. They claimed that after she refused, he abducted her and later murdered her before fleeing abroad.

Family members alleged that the accused had travelled from Canada to Punjab through Nepal with the intention of committing the crime and escaped back using the same route after the murder.

They said the singer had become acquainted with the accused through Instagram around five years ago. However, she later refused to marry him after discovering that he was already married and had children. The family claimed the accused had been holding a grudge against her since then.

Police have begun an investigation into the case.

According to reports, Yashinder Kaur’s parents and two brothers currently live in South Korea, while another brother resides in the Jamalpur area of Ludhiana.
