Excise department raids in two villages, seizes 2000 litres of Lahan, 70 litres of Illicit Liquor

Excise department seizes Lahan & Illicit Liquor

Kapurthala News (June 15): As part of a special drive to curb the manufacture, storage and sale of illicit liquor, the Excise department conducted intensive raids in villages Toti and Latian under Sultanpur Lodhi subdivision and recovered a large quantity of illicit liquor and others used for its production.

 

During the operation, officials recovered nearly 2000 litres of lahan stored in drums and 20 litres of illicit liquor from an abandoned location in Village Toti. The recovered material was destroyed on the spot as per norms. Similarly, during a raid in Village Latian, the Excise department recovered 50 litres of illicit liquor lying in an abandoned condition. The illicit liquor was also destroyed immediately at the site to prevent its distribution and consumption.

Excise Officer Sukhjit Singh Chahal said the raids were conducted with the active support of Excise Inspector Jatinderpal Singh of the Sultanpur Circle, Excise police personnel and the local police of Sultanpur Lodhi. He said the department was committed to cracking down on the illegal liquor trade and would wipe out completely. He warned that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in the manufacture, transportation and sale of illicit liquor.
